The Sutter Vocabulary
- SLR- stands for single-lens reflex. This is a camera that uses mirror and prism system.
- TLR- stands for twin-lens reflex. It is a camera that has two objective lenses of the same focal lenght and the other lens view the objective and reflected in a consists of a 45-degree with a mirror.
- Shutter-a device that allows light to pass for a determined period of time and capture a image of a scene that you wish to be taken.
- Shutter Speeds- The amount of time that the shutter is open (The thing the shutter do)
- Bulb- to obtain shutter speeds slower than the maximum offered in camera
- Cable Release- an attachment that screws into a shutter release, allowing you to trip
the shutter mechanically while being isolated from the camera
- Tripod- three-legged frame, used as a platform for supporting the weight and maintaining the stability while taking picture
- Light Meter- device used to measure the amount of light
- Bracketing- Taking several shots of the same subject using different camera settings
- Hot Shoe- a mounting point on the top of a camera to attach a flash unit
