Art Historical Reproduction (The Scream)

The Scream (1893)- Edvard Munch

Observations about their work-
Sunsets, Bridge, Person wearing black, Light in front, Hopefully an island in the back ground
Notes from artists themselves-
His inspiration: One evening I was walking along a path, the city was on one side and the fjord below. I felt tired and ill. I stopped and looked out over the fjord—the sun was setting, and the clouds turning blood red. I sensed a scream passing through nature; it seemed to me that I heard the scream. I painted this picture, painted the clouds as actual blood. The color shrieked. This became The Scream.
His Works- His major works that are well known to the world are The Scream, The Dance of Life, Ashes and Madonna. He mostly only works with Oil on canvas.
His Styles- he created as both paintings and pastels, by the Expressionist, he created the four versions of The Scream in various media.
Re-create-

When: Spring break, Sunsets. I'm going to need lights in the front because the place is going to be kind of dark because of the sun is going to be setting. The exposure might be long, therefor i should have a tripod with me too
Where : the bridge in Fort Langley
Who: I'm gonna be using more then one person (anyone) hopefully bald.
. The models needs to be wearing something dark (black). They need to show and have the 'O' expression with eyes wide open. Their hands needs to be on their cheeks, and they need to be standing on a bridge. Hopefully catching two people in the background.

The Year in Pictures 2014

What stories do you remember? What stories made you think? What images stuck with you?
          The story about
Marius the giraffe stuck to me the most in 2014. it was a zoo killing that happened in the Danish Zoo. the giraffe apparently did not fit in with the park's breeding program therefore had to be killed and feed to lions. This story made me think because your are thinking is the zoo did the right thing or not. Should they have saved that animal who was costing them money to feed or have they done the right thing by feeding it to the lion  not wasting any parts of the giraffe's body? The image of the giraffe's story stuck to me because its not something pleasant that you would see everyday.

1. Describe the story: What happened? Explain the details of the story.
Dog peeks out from under a gate at the Cirllo family. Cpl. Nathan Cirillo, the army reservist who  was shot           dead as he stood guard befoe the Tomb of the Unknown soldier in Ottawa. The shooting began an attack that     ended with a lone storming into Parliament and opening fire before being shot dead himself.
2. Describe the image that accompanies the story.
The dogs are looking/waiting for something. Sad looking. The pile of flowers, flags and the doll made it seem       like a solders that was a husband from a family who had a daughter had just died.
3. Identify the main subject,
    the dog(s)
4. Describe background details,
the flowers, flags and the doll
5. What is the emphasis/compositional technique used?
    rule of thirds

  1. Describe the story: What happened? Explain the details of the story?A hot air balloon floats past an almost full rising moon on a warm fall evening near Encinitas
  2. Describe the image that accompanies the story.
it looks like the people in the hot air balooon should be enjoying their view. probably a really calm bright night, and the seanery of the moon must be great.
  3. Identify the main subject,
    Hot air balloon
  4. Describe background details,
the moon in the middle bring out the hot air balloon because the moon is whitefish blue while the hot air balloon is yellowish looking with an abnormal shape.
  5. What is the emphasis/compositional technique used?
    rule of thirds, contrast,

Baden completed a BFA at the College of Visual Arts, St. Paul, Minnesota, in 2007. Evan Baden’s portrait series The Illuminati (2006-2007) and  Technically Intimate (2009-2010) The Illuminati depicts solitary figures from the waist up, bathed in a soft light and surrounded by shadows in a manner that recalls Johannes Vermeer’s (Dutch, 1632-1675) paintings. However, using the glow radiates from the screens of electronic devices, such as iPods, cell phones, and computers, rather than streaming in from a nearby window. Baden continues his exploration of the relationship of technology and youth in his subsequent series Technically Intimate (2009-2010).

Bill O'Donnell
Bill O'Donnell rooted in this idea of the home as a haven. His recent series Elevations comprises photographs of small model houses that the artist holds up in front of the camera in tranquil settings like a deserted beach or a forest. images attempts to reconcile house and landscape—to find a place where one fits the other. He challenges our perceptions of the real and the artificial. He also plays with our sense of scale through the positioning of the models and he guides our eyes within each photograph by using a shallow depth of field, which leaves only certain areas in focus
